What You Need to Know about Brow Lifts/Forehead Lifts

Aging is inevitable, isn’t it? Skin starts to sag. Laugh lines tread over your once-youthful face. And furrows start to deepen between your eyes. Years of smoking and pollution exposure can wreak havoc on your skin, but it’s not all our fault. Gravity is a nasty element and so are genetics. These imperfections in your face can make you appear older than your years. New advances in medical methods have helped people in their battle with Father Time.

Brow lift, which are also referred to as forehead lift, is an elective surgery in which a cosmetic surgeon removes muscle and tightens skin around the forehead and brow line. The main difference among the various options for forehead and browlifting consists of the placement of the incision.

Surgeons often use one of three techniques: endoscopic, subcutaneous, or coronal lifts. We’ll start with coronal lift because it is the oldest technique used to perform browlifts. The procedure involves a surgeon making one incision from one ear to the other, over the top of your head. This technique is designed to correct horizontal forehead wrinkles and scowling.

Endoscopic forehead lift uses incisions just behind your hairline, each of which measure one inch. A face lift surgeon can insert an endoscope, with a tiny camera attached, through each of these four to six incisions to see under the skin without making a long incision across the top of your head. Finally, subcutaneous forehead lifts are used the least. Your surgeon will make an incision at the top of your hairline, where it begins. The incision will run across the top of your forehead. The big disadvantage is that you might have a scar where the incision is made.

After surgery, you will have some swelling and bruising and maybe even some numbness around the incisions after they start to heal. Bandages will be removed within three days of the surgery and the sutures will be removed within 10 days, although some patients may experience a longer recovery time. Cold compresses may reduce the swelling and any pain you have can be managed by medication prescribed by your doctor.

Browlifts/forehead lifts can repair the signs of premature aging and help recapture youth. These flaws can make some people feel insecure. By correcting these flaws with cosmetic surgery, you can change how you feel about yourself.  For additional information contact a facelift surgeon in Melbourne.
