Laser Skin Resurfacing FAQ
May 11, 2009 @ 06:15 PM — by unknown
The laser skin resurfacing procedure uses laser beam light to remove superficial layers of skin, including dead skin cells and some imperfections. Once the old layers are removed, along with the imperfections, new layers of skin grow and develop.
What results can I expect from laser skin resurfacing?
Since the laser removes more than just a thin layer of skin, results of laser skin resurfacing are often more dramatic than with some other procedures. It is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, areas of superficial sun damage and hyperpigmentation, and some scars. There are several different types of lasers used, some specific for treating acne scars, age spots, or enlarged pores. Your doctor will advise you on which procedure is best for you. He or she will also advise you if you are not a candidate for the procedure because of skin tone, a skin disease or condition, or because you're on certain medications.
